Livery design

Shortly after leaving school and a several months on YTS schemes, I decided to work for myself as a sign-writer and airbrush artist. It was a brilliant time. I enjoyed meeting new people.

One week I could be airbrushing a mural on the the petrol tank of a hell’s angel’s motorcyle, the next sign-writing the front of a fish and chip shop.

I remember one time designing a logo and airbrushing a brand new black pick-up truck for a guy who owned the local video store. He must have been pretty confident in my abilitiies. I was only seventeen and this guy was going to let me mask up his brand new truck and take a scalpel to it! Back then, I had no fear, I didn’t consider what if it went wrong, I just got on with it. As I recall, it turned out pretty nice.

I’m still into the motorcycles and, if I had my way, would probably be building and painting custom bikes for a living. There’s still time… never say never.
