Photographing people

I like photographing people. I love faces, especially those with character, whatever their age.

This was a shoot I did in October (2008). It was for Vale Life and City Life magazine and features the clothes from a shop in Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan called Forever Vintage which buys and sells vintage clothing and jewellery.

We were originally just going to do shots in the shop but it was a particularly blustery October day so I thought we could do some shoots on the pier – I thought the striking red dress would sing against the grey moody sky.

When we got to the pier, the wind was blowing up through the boards of the pier so we thought it might be nice to try a Marilyn Monroe style shot a la Some Like it Hot. It worked, beautifully.

I have to take my hat of to the two local girls who had agreed to model, they were absolutely brilliant and so easy to work with - they could certainly teach many of the real models I have worked with a thing or two!
